Guidelines for Persons with Disability

IBPS recognises the following disabilities as eligible to apply for CWE for IBPS PO/MT VI:
  • Visually Impaired (VI)
  • Deaf & Hearing Impaired (HI)
  • Orthopaedically Challenged (OC)
Section 33 of the Persons with Disabilities Act 1995, makes those candidates eligible for reservation as PwD where the sufferance is not less than 40% of the relevant disability. Such candidates need to be certified by a Medical Board constituted by the Central or State government.

Candidates have thus to produce original certificate, issued by Competent Authority on or before last date of online submission of application, in the prescribed relevant format of Form-I, Form-II (Page 1, Page 2), or Form-III (Page 1, Page 2) from the IBPS PO/MT VI Notification, at the time of interview and at any stage of the selection process if they are provisionally allotted to any Participating Organisation. Such candidates will have to work at Branches/Offices as identified by Participating Organisation.

Persons with Disability

Visually Impaired (VI)

Blindness refers to condition where a person suffers from any of the following conditions namely

  2. Visual acuity not exceeding 6/60 or 20/200 (snellen) in the better eye with correcting lenses

Low vision means a person with impairment of visual functioning even after treatment or standard refractive correction but who uses or is potentially capable of using vision for the planning or execution of a task with appropriate assistive device.

Deaf & Hearing Impaired (HI)

The deaf are those persons in whom the sense of hearing is non-functional for ordinary purposes of life i.e. total loss of hearing in both ears. They do not hear, understand sounds at all even with amplified speech. Hearing impairment means loss of sixty decibels or more in the better ear in the conversational range of frequencies.

PwD requiring a Scribe - Guidelines:

A Scribe is allowed for only visually impaired candidates and those whose writing speed is adversely affected permanently for any reason. A candidate would have to arrange for the scribe on their own, at their own cost for the online examination.

The following rules apply:
  1. Scribe is to be arranged by the candidate at their own cost,
  2. Scribe may be from any academic stream,
  3. Scribe as well as candidate have to give a suitable undertaking confirming that Scribe understands and fulfils the eligibility criteria laid down.
  4. Candidates using a Scribe will be given 20 minutes extra for every hour of the exam.
  5. Scribe should not be a candidate for the same examination i.e. CWE IBPS PO/MT VI.
  6. An eligible candidate, to use a Scribe, should invariably and carefully indicate the same in his online application.
  7. To get compensatory time, the candidate has to register for the same on his/her online application.

Candidates with Locomotor Disability and Cerebral Palsy

Compensatory time of twenty minutes per hour or otherwise advised shall be permitted. This will be allowed when dominant (writing) extremity is affected to the extent of slowing the performance of function (minimum of 40% impairment).

Candidates with Visual Impairment

VI candidates, who suffer from not less than 40% disability, may opt to either,
In either case, the candidate will be eligible for compensatory time of 20 minutes for every hour, or otherwise advised.
